What is an Online Interactive Worship Experience? Great question.
There are over 1 billion people on the internet world-wide. That’s a lot of people and that’s a lot of potential relationships. Social networks like Facebook, Twitter, and Myspace have grown the level of online community at an explosive rate over the past five years. They have confirmed what we already know to be true: relationships are a primary need.
People want to connect and they’re not letting geography get in the way.
With a mission field that size filled with people desiring connection we have to ask ourselves how we will respond as Christ-followers. What kinds of needs can we meet? What can be accomplished in online communities for the gospel? Crossover is our solution, a way for online communities to interact while worshipping Jesus together.
How will they interact? Each experience will have live chat allowing people to connect with each other, talk about the worship and message, discuss key points, and simply build relationships with other users. Questions will be answered live after each sermon and everything plugs right into Facebook and Twitter so it can be tweeted, re-tweeted, updated, linked, noted and commented on as much or little as you like.
We are excited about the possibilities that Crossover brings to the online community but we want to be clear that we are not attempting to replace the local church. As a matter of fact, one of our main goals is to connect people that do not attend a local church to one in their area.
We believe that when Jesus commissioned his disciples to go into the entire world with the good news of the gospel, He wasn’t kidding. We take that commission seriously and feel it would be foolish to ignore the growing online community.
So, what is Crossover? It’s simply staying true to the Great Commission: Reaching the internet community for Jesus Christ, and it’s our prayer that you’ll join us as we go.
